Great Deal Breadman TR888 Corner Bakery 2-Pound Programmable Bread Maker

I was looking up my bread machine to refer it to a friend and this is the closest one to it that I have found. Mine is obviously a slightly older model; I’ve had it over 5 years. I have made *all* our bread with it; making at least a loaf a week of either white or rye, dough for rolls or cinnamon buns and it has never failed to produce fabulous bread, so long as I followed the very clear instructions in the manual and the recipe book.

I LOVE this machine; I love Salton’s customer service. When I first got this machine new, the bread occasionally would rise and then fall during the baking. After reading the trouble-shooting part of the manual, I called the customer service line and what happened next utterly sold me on this machine and the company. When I explained my problem, the service rep. immediately said, “Oh, when I was in the test kitchen, I encountered this problem and we realized that if that happens, use 1-1/2 to 2 tablespoons less water and it’ll never happen again. And you can peek inside to see how it’s kneading and then add back in a bit more water if needed.”

Ok, first, to hear “…when I was in the test kitchen…” from someone answering a help line was the most refreshing thing that has ever happened to me regarding customer service. Second, she was smack-on correct; I’ve used slightly less water in the bread recipes and never had that problem again.

I’ve never had a bread machine that I liked so well and will be broken-hearted when if finally wears out. But there are no signs of it yet; it’s still going strong.

I see the tag of “Panasonic” suggested; did Salton get bought out? Is this why this wonderful product seems to be discontinued?

Per Loaf – Gary G. – Columbus, In
Great machine. Quiet, strong motor, consisantly made good dough. But I got less than 100 loaves before the bushing in the bottom end of the bread pan wore out. (Thus per loaf.) This would be easy to repair, but Breadman (Sulton) does not sell replacement parts. So I have a great machine that would still be baking bread if the bushing assembly in the lower part of the pan was sealed, or if I could purchase a busing housing assemby for to . READ THE INSTRUCTIONS… NEVER PUT THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THIS BREAD PAN IN WATER WHEN CLEANING! Gary G. from Columbus, In.

Breadman TR520 Programmable Bread Maker for 1-, 1-1/2-, and 2-Pound Loaves Review

I’ve had this machine for a month now and I don’t know how I got by without one for so long. Mainly I use it for the dough cycle because the arthritis in my hands doesn’t allow me to knead my own dough anymore, but this machine does an excellent job. The dough rises beautifully and all I have to do is shape the loaf and pop it into the oven. I also have let the machine bake some loafs and I have been very pleased with the finished product.

The manual has some excellent recipes and I highly recommend the cinnamon raisin bread. I do substitute warm milk for water and I add a package of instant sugar free vanilla pudding mix for richer dough, but it’s very good. The dough cycle doesn’t have an alarm for adding fruits or nuts but I can add those to the loaf before baking. I’ve also used other yeast than the recommended Red Star and have had no problems.

Other reviewers have made comment about the white letters on a yellow background (not the wisest color combination). I haven’t found that to be a problem because the program/timer screen is digital and not hard to read.

The machine itself is quiet and doesn’t try to “walk” across the counter top but you can hear it during the kneading process. I don’t think it is very noisy at all though. It’s also very easy to clean.

All in all, I am very happy with this bread maker and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a user friendly, very good product.

Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus 2-Pound Stainless-Steel Convection Breadmaker Review

I’ve had this machine for just over a year now, and have made maybe 50 batches. Some are are mixed, proofed and baked in the machine. Others are only mixed in the machine, then the rest is done by hand and oven. The Breadman Ultimate Plus performs flawlessly every time.

Even mixing large batches, 3 to 4 pounds, are no problem (Don’t try to ferment and bake these oversized doughs.); better even than top line home mixers. These large batches are for sandwich loaves, artisan and rustic loaves and for dinner rolls and small loaves for subs/giros/tortas. I haven’t tried an oversized batch of a stiff dough, as for bagels.

The noise level is very acceptable; no impediment to normal conversation even when standing right beside it. I could see a problem if set on a thin counter top that is resonant, but any solid top will dampen the noise/vibration. (To counter the noise, quarter a computer mouse pad, and put a section under each foot.)

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy to use bread machine–put the wet ingredients in the pan, add the dry ingredients, and turn it on. It just works.
