Great Deal Breadman TR888 Corner Bakery 2-Pound Programmable Bread Maker

I was looking up my bread machine to refer it to a friend and this is the closest one to it that I have found. Mine is obviously a slightly older model; I’ve had it over 5 years. I have made *all* our bread with it; making at least a loaf a week of either white or rye, dough for rolls or cinnamon buns and it has never failed to produce fabulous bread, so long as I followed the very clear instructions in the manual and the recipe book.

I LOVE this machine; I love Salton’s customer service. When I first got this machine new, the bread occasionally would rise and then fall during the baking. After reading the trouble-shooting part of the manual, I called the customer service line and what happened next utterly sold me on this machine and the company. When I explained my problem, the service rep. immediately said, “Oh, when I was in the test kitchen, I encountered this problem and we realized that if that happens, use 1-1/2 to 2 tablespoons less water and it’ll never happen again. And you can peek inside to see how it’s kneading and then add back in a bit more water if needed.”

Ok, first, to hear “…when I was in the test kitchen…” from someone answering a help line was the most refreshing thing that has ever happened to me regarding customer service. Second, she was smack-on correct; I’ve used slightly less water in the bread recipes and never had that problem again.

I’ve never had a bread machine that I liked so well and will be broken-hearted when if finally wears out. But there are no signs of it yet; it’s still going strong.

I see the tag of “Panasonic” suggested; did Salton get bought out? Is this why this wonderful product seems to be discontinued?

Per Loaf – Gary G. – Columbus, In
Great machine. Quiet, strong motor, consisantly made good dough. But I got less than 100 loaves before the bushing in the bottom end of the bread pan wore out. (Thus per loaf.) This would be easy to repair, but Breadman (Sulton) does not sell replacement parts. So I have a great machine that would still be baking bread if the bushing assembly in the lower part of the pan was sealed, or if I could purchase a busing housing assemby for to . READ THE INSTRUCTIONS… NEVER PUT THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THIS BREAD PAN IN WATER WHEN CLEANING! Gary G. from Columbus, In.

Great Deal Zojirushi BBCC-V20 Home Bakery Traditional Breadmaker

The Zojirushi-V20 is the third bread machine that I’ve owned and it is by far the BEST! Unlike my first bread machine, it makes nice traditional shaped rectangular loaves (not round ones that look like you baked them in a coffee can!). And unlike my second breadmachine, the Zojirushi is built to last, making loaf after loaf, day in and day out, with no smoking or strange noises coming from the motor. The V20 is easy to use, has multiple pre-programmed settings plus gives you the option to program in your own recipe times. The preheat function is also a nice touch, my first machine didn’t have a preheat cycle and everything had to sit out on the counter until it came to room temperature before you could start. My favorite function is the timer function though! Want fresh bread for breakfast or dinner, you can program the Zojirushi to bake your bread and have it ready to eat when you are. You can even bake cakes and make jam in it if you want. In fact the very first jar of jam I ever made was in my Zojirushi! Want a simple but delicious dessert for dinner, pour in any cake mix and have the Zojirushi bake a pound cake like loaf that you can top with fresh sliced fruit!

If you are looking to buy your first bread machine, I urge you to spend the extra money and buy the best machine on the market, it will more than pay for itself over the years. And if the pleasure of eating fresh homemade bread (really-there is nothing like it available at the supermarket) isn’t enough of a reward think of the health benefits of providing whole grain goodness for you and your family.

If my bread machine ever breaks (unlikely unless I drop it) I will not hesitate to buy another Zojirushi because once you’ve used the best, there is no going back. I have read other reviews where people have had trouble with rusting or warped pans and chipped or rusting paddles but I haven’t had any trouble with mine at all and I use it at least once a week. I always hand wash my pan and paddles and dry them right away and I never “soak” them but I’ve never found a need to “soak” them anyway and I’ve made everything from bread to dough to cakes to jam in mine.

works fine after 4 years of use – S. Pustylnik – Rockville, Maryland
It still works after 4 years of use. We bake 2 loafs of bread a week. Half time we bake hard whole wheat bread. We also use it to make pizza dough very often.
This machine for us worked much better than Breadmaker, that died after 1.5 year of same type of use.

Be ready to buy replacement parts every 12-18 mths – Miriam – Tennessee
I have owned this bread machine since May 2004. It has been used approximately once each week. Sometime in the late summer/fall of 2005, the pan needed to be replaced because the interior non-stick coating was peeling off and falling into the dough. The cost for a replacement pan is + s/h. A customer service rep @ Zojirushi was kind enough to send me a replacement for free. By April 2008, the non-stick coating on the kneading blades were peeling badly (and had been for several months) and had to be replaced for a cost of + S/H. About 6 mos ago, the unit started to bake unevenly. The pan is now again in need of replacement, and the paddles that I purchased 13 months ago are peeling badly. I called customer service to ask how long the paddles should last before peeling. Of course, I got a very non-comittal answer of “it depends”. I was told that every 1-2 years was quite normal. The machine worked great when it was newer, but the parts are pretty expensive to keep replacing each year.

Zojirushi BBCC-V20 Home Bakery Traditional Breadmaker Overviews

One of the most wonderful sensory experiences has to be the smell of baking bread. It nourishes the soul and warms the heart, just as the finished product nourishes and warms the body. This bread maker not only makes a splendid horizontal loaf, it’s easy to use and clean, meaning it won’t join the dud appliances gathering dust while they wait for the next yard sale.

Zojirushi BBCC-V20 Home Bakery Traditional Breadmaker Specifications

Zojirushi Home Bakery looks like an ordinary bread machine, but its additional features are a welcome surprise. It not only makes French, sandwich, basic, wheat, homemade, and other bread types, but it also makes jams, cakes, and pizza dough. Using the technology found in most bread machines–dual kneading blades, automatic timer, crust control, and auto shutoff, the Home Bakery heats and mixes jam ingredients, leaving refrigeration as the final step. The cake setting operates similarly to the bread process, but the machine adjusts its temperature to retain the moisture of cakes, such as German chocolate or butter.

Aside from the plethora of uses, this machine offers many important technical features. Its quick baking option allows bread making in only two hours, the time usually spent waiting for the dough to rise. The timer also can delay baking for up to 13 hours. A beep signal lets you know when you should add fruits or nuts to the dough or jam, and another sounds when the loaf, cake, or jam is finished. Cleanup is simple, as the internal pan and kneading blades are coated with a nonstick material. Before starting, make sure to take advantage of the included recipe book and instructional video that thoroughly discuss each use of the machine, providing many helpful hints and care tips. –Madeleine Miller

Norpro 370 Bread Slicerand Guide with Crumb Catcher Review

This works very well. I have used it many times and it holds up well and is easy to clean. If I had to change anything I would like to see it have an additional set of sides that would make thinner slices of bread. The slices come out a little thick. That is not a bad thing, but there are times when I would like to have thinner. Other than that it works very well for my bread and I would recommend it for the price.

  • Generous slicing surface accommodates any size loaf
  • Handsome hardwood crumb catcher steadies the unit and protects counters and tabletops
  • Acrylic slicing guides ensure uniform ½-inch slices
  • Easy cleanup; simply dump the crumbs the from crumb catcher

Norpro 370 Bread Slicerand Guide with Crumb Catcher Overview

Norpro Bread Slicer with Crumb Catcher

Norpro 370 Bread Slicerand Guide with Crumb Catcher Specifications

This is an adequate no-frills manual bread slicer, and adequate is the operative word. The crumb catcher eliminates messes, making this slicer a much cleaner option than slicing bread on a cutting board. Also, you can achieve uniform 1/2-inch slices; the only caveat is that you can’t adjust the slicer to cut any thicker or thinner. Use your longest serrated knife when cutting, because a knife that just barely spans the width of the slicing tray will keep slipping out of the acrylic slicing guides. The guides have no top support and tend to wobble a bit as you slice. They also have inexplicably high sides; you’d have to use triple the leavening to make bread that reaches the top of them. Despite its design limitations, the Norpro deluxe bread slicer is easy to assemble and maintain and has an attractive overall look. –Carol Gnojewski
